Circumstances

The Lord is not our personal Genie who grants us our wishes.

Genesis 22:1, 2
Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”

When Abraham was asked to sacrifice his only son whom he loved he did not debate or argue with God. He did not wish that God would change his circumstances. But rather Abraham accepted his situation and yielded his will to the will of God.

Genesis 22:15-18
Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven, and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

And in the end by accepting his circumstances and by obeying God’s voice Abraham was greatly blessed.

The Lord is not our personal Genie who grants us our wishes.

When you and I find ourselves in difficult situations we should not debate or argue with God. We should not wish that God would change our circumstances. But rather we should accept our situation and yield our will to the will of God.

And in the end by accepting our circumstances and by obeying God’s voice we will be greatly blessed.

So…

Have you been greatly blessed?
