Wash Your Face

Matthew 6:16-18
“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”

If you and I have true faith (or emunah) we will have total confidence and trust in the Lord’s ability to provide our needs.

If you and I have true faith (or emunah) we will have total confidence and trust in our Father’s desire to see us through a difficult time.

When we ask others for help it is like putting on a gloomy face, advertising our lack of faith in Abba’s ability to provide our needs.

When we ask others to “pray for us” it is like neglecting our appearance, advertising our lack of faith in Abba’s desire to see us through a difficult time.

If you and I have true faith (or emunah) we will anoint our heads and wash our faces so as to not be noticed by men.

If you and I have true faith (or emunah) we will anoint our heads and wash our faces so our Father who sees in secret will reward us in secret.

So…

Have you washed your face?
