Rejected

John 6:60-61, 63-64a, 66
Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, “This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?” But Jesus, conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?”

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.”

As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore.

There were times when Jesus said things that were difficult for the people to accept - they could not listen to them. Even some of His disciples did not believe Him and as a result they rejected Him and stopped following Him.

There will be times in your life and my life when we too will say things that are difficult for people to accept and they will not listen to them. And there will even be those who we thought were fellow disciples who will not believe us and reject us.

John 8:43, 45
“Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word.”

“But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.”

But as long as you and I speak the truth in spirit just as Jesus spoke the truth in spirit then their unbelief is not our problem, it is theirs alone.

Luke 10:16
“The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

So…

Have you been rejected (you’re in good company)?
