The Voice of the Flesh

John 2:23-25
Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing. But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man.

Jesus did not entrust Himself to men because He knew what was in man’s heart. Jesus knew that the heart of man was the heart of the flesh and it could not be trusted.

Out of the heart of man comes the voice of the flesh. And out of the voice of the flesh comes deception and lies.

Almost everything we see on TV, hear on the radio or read on the Internet is the voice of the flesh. And you and I must beware and carefully consider what we see, what we hear and what we read lest we become deceived by the voice of the flesh.

You and I must follow Jesus’ example and not entrust ourselves to men - we must not listen to the voice of the flesh. Instead, we must listen to the voice of the Scriptures because in the Scriptures there is knowledge and wisdom and in wisdom there is life.

Ecclesiastes 7:12
For wisdom is protection just as money is protection, but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the lives of its possessors.

So…

Do you listen to the voice of the flesh (or has your life been preserved)?
