Is the beast of Revelation alive today?

Revelation 1:8

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

The Lord is and was and is to come.

In other words the Lord is all times, the Lord is all things, the Lord is everywhere, the Lord is eternal.

Revelation 17:8a

The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction.

The beast was and is not.

In other words the beast has no time, the beast is nothing, the beast is nowhere, the beast is temporary.

Revelation 20:10

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The beast is the “flesh” - the flesh of humanity - the flesh which is temporary - the flesh which will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone. You and I (the flesh within us) are the beast.

The beast can be defined as “the worship of self” (the worship of the flesh).

Some of the attributes of the beast are self-admiration, self-obsession, self-gratification, self-absorbed, self-centered, self-interested, self-loved.

Is the beast of Revelation alive today?

Just watch any celebrity gossip television program or take a look at most people’s Facebook walls.

The beast is alive and well.
