The Breath of Life

Genesis 2:7
Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

When the Lord created Adam and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, He breathed His Spirit, the Shekinah, into Adam and Adam became a living being.

John 20:21, 22
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

After Jesus’ resurrection He gathered His disciples and when He breathed on them they received the Shekinah and became living beings.

John 3:3-6
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

When you and I first believed and were born again of the Spirit the Father breathed into our nostrils the breath of life, the Shekinah, and for the first time in our lives we became living beings.

It is only through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that you and I become living beings in the eyes of our Father. We have no life of our own.

So…

Has the breath of life been breathed into your nostrils?

Does the Holy Spirit dwell within you?

Are you a living being?
