Taken Up

Genesis 5:24
Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

Enoch walked with God and one day God took him, and he was not. Enoch was the first person (a Gentile) to be taken up into heaven. Enoch was the first person to be raptured.

2 Kings 2:9-11
When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said, “Please, let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” He said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven.

Elijah was one of the Lord’s greatest prophets and one day God took him, and he went up. Elijah was the second person (a Jew) to be taken up into heaven. Elijah was the second person to be raptured.

Genesis 19:15, 16
When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.” But he hesitated. So the men seized his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, for the compassion of the LORD was upon him; and they brought him out, and put him outside the city.

When the angels came and rescued Lot from the impending destruction of Sodom they put him outside the city. Lot is a shadow or picture of God’s Elect who will be put outside the city before the impending destruction of Babylon in the Last Days. The Elect will be taken up. The Elect will be raptured.

Luke 21:20-22
“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near. Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city; because these are days of vengeance, so that all things which are written will be fulfilled.”

Before the desolation of Jerusalem in the Last Days God’s Elect must leave the city just as Lot left the city. The Elect will be taken up. The Elect will be raptured.

1 Corinthians 15:51, 52
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

So…

Will you be taken up?
