The Weight of the Flesh

John 6:28
Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?”

When you and I became born again of the Spirit the Spirit unfortunately became buried by the weight of our flesh. The weight of our flesh crushes the Spirit within us hindering Him from accomplishing the works of God.

You and I must learn to free ourselves from the weight of the flesh so the Spirit can rise up and take control of our lives.

As long as we let the weight of our flesh hold down the Spirit we will never be able to work the works of God.

Even though we mean well we all too often work the works of God by the power of our own flesh.

Instead, we must do nothing and allow the Spirit to work the works of God within us and through us…

John 5:19
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”

John 15:4, 5
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

So what must we do to work the works of God?

We must free ourselves from the weight of our flesh and then do nothing.

So…

How heavy is your flesh?
